For your info, it's useful to know that most of the cPanel-based Hosting offerings on today's website hosting marketplace are provided by a very inconsiderable business niche (when it comes to annual cash flow) called reseller hosting. Reseller web hosting is a kind of a small-size business segment, which supplies a vast quantity of different web hosting trademarks, yet supplying strictly the same thing: chiefly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least 98 percent of the website hosting offers on the entire web hosting market furnish exactly the same solution: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting price tags are identical. Very much alike. Leaving for those in need of a top web hosting service virtually no other web hosting platform/Control Panel alternative. Thus, there is merely one fact: out of more than 200k hosting brands around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than 2%, mind that one...

200,000 "Hosting distributors", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely labeled

The Hosting "diversity" and the website hosting "offerings" Google presents to us boil down to just one solution: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different web hosting trademarked names. Assume you are only a normal person who's not very familiar with (as most of us) with the website making procedures and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the separate domains and web portals. Are you ready to make your hosting selection? Is there any web hosting option you can select? Sure there is, now there are more than 200k hosting distributors out there. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98% of these more than two hundred thousand different web hosting brand names all over the world will offer you the very same cPanel web hosting CP and platform, dubbed in a different way, with the very same price tags! WOW! That's how great the diversity on the present-day web hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all part of

Simple mathematics reveals that to chance upon a non-cPanel based web hosting vendor is a colossal strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that something like that will happen! Less than one in fifty...

The upsides and downsides of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be harsh with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and probably fulfilled most web hosting industry prerequisites. In brief, cPanel can do the trick if you have just one single domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Negative Sign No.1: An imbecilic domain folder system

If you have two or more domains, though, be ultra attentive not to remove entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each next hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are quite easy to remove on the web hosting server, because they all are created into the root folder of the default domain, which is the quite famous public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to erase the files of the add-on domains, please. Observe for yourself how wonderful cPanel's domain folder system is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you growing nonplussed? We certainly are!

Shortcoming Number Two: The same e-mail folder configuration

The e-mail folder configuration on the server is exactly the same as that of the domains... Making the same mistake twice?!? The sysadmin boys strongly strengthen their belief in God when coping with the mail folders on the mail server, praying not to botch things up too irreparably.

Weak Point No.3: An utter deficiency of domain name manipulation options

Do we have to bring up the utter absence of a contemporary domain name administration tool - a location where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or administer domain names, edit domain names' Whois info, shield the Whois info, change/set up name servers (DNS) and DNS resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "contemporary" GUI at all. That's a colossal weakness. An inexcusable one, we would like to point out...

Weak Point Number 4: Many login places (minimum 2, max three)

What about the demand for an additional login to utilize the billing, domain name and technical support management interface? That's beside the cPanel login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting supplier. Occasionally, based on the invoicing platform (especially tailored for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting distributor is utilizing, the earnest clients can end up with 2 extra login places (1: the invoicing/domain name management menu; 2: the trouble ticket support interface), winding up with a total of 3 login places (counting cPanel).

Predicament Number 5: More than one hundred and twenty website hosting Control Panel departments to become acquainted with... fast

cPanel presents for your consideration 120+ sections inside the hosting Control Panel. It's a marvelous idea to get to know each one of them. And you'd better memorize them quickly... That's excessively arrogant on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting distributors:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mind that one too...
